Understanding the many theorems that form the bedrock of mathematics and statistics is essential for the student. Statistics and Mathematics can be difficult subjects, we cannot escape this fact, however the learning process is often made more frustrating than it needs to be when proofs of theorems are too brief.
If these proofs appear in peer reviewed journals then this is usually because the target audience are advanced and need minimal explanation. If the proofs appear in textbooks then brevity ensures the textbooks are not too large!
Thus the primary aim of this blog is to take proofs presented in papers and textbooks and to expand them so that the reader can be taken from theorem statement to conclusion without any steps or lines being missed out. We invite registered users to contribute their own expanded proofs and in time it is hoped that a library of such proofs may make this subject area more accessible to students.
The secondary aim of this blog is to provide a forum to stimulate discussion about thses proofs so that users can obtain help from each other.
